The Tosa

The Tosa is a loyal and sensitive Japanese dog. He/she was once used for dog fighting and he/she was bred to fight quietly as Japanese dog fighting rules called for silence. This natural guard dog is protective, courageous and fearless.

The Tosa varies considerably in size. The Japanese breed generally weighs between 36 and 61 kg, while the non-Japanese breeders have focused on dogs that weigh between 60 to 90 kg. His/her coat is short and smooth, often red, brindle, fawn, and less often a black colouring.

He/she is a relaxed dog. The Tosa is known to be gentle and patient with children with the right environment and care.
