  • Content and Marketing Coordinator, Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix

We took Willow, our pretty Havanese female, to Humphrey‘s home, our Cockappo male.

Humphrey was good at Willow’s place and waited in the hall.

We let them both off lead at Ravenscourt Park for their dog Walking. They had a nice friendly play about and then they explored the park at their own leisure whilst having fun!!

Willow also had a nice hair cut as you can see! So you can actually see her properly now 😀🐾

During This World Vegan Month, What Is A Vegan? 🐾

  • Content and Marketing Coordinator, Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix

A way to explain the vegan concept is to define what vegan means, and then look at how and why the word came into existence.

A vegetarian diet is commonly understood to exclude meat and fish, but to include eggs and dairy. The word vegan takes cuts out every item of animal origin. Vegan refers to anything that is free of animal products: for example, no meat, milk, eggs, wool, leather, honey.

Veganism carries at least three potential advantages:

  1. avoidance of animal mistreatment and slaughter
  2. elimination of certain health risks
  3. reduction of environmental footprint

Can you become a vegan through diet alone? Absolutely, since, as we will see in the next section, vegan was originally defined purely in dietary terms.

No matter the degree to which you ultimately embrace the vegan concept, it makes sense to begin your transition by emphasizing dietary choices. After all, unless you buy a new fur coat every winter, the overwhelming majority of animal use associated with your life almost certainly arises from your food choices.

A hardy, energetic and intelligent dog, the English Springer Spaniel is outgoing and friendly!

We picked Freddie up from his house for his dog Walking, he was in a great mood.

We took him for a walk up the river then to Wandsworth Park.

Playing games with dog toys is one of his favourite thing,  some other dogs tried to engage with him, but Freddie wasn’t really interested !!🐻

🐶 Out on their dog Walking, EmmanuelleChaix present you.. Monty! Our Miniature Schnauzer, and Humphrey, our handsome Cockapoo !!

–  Content and Marketing Coordinator, Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix

We took Monty, our fun and highly social Miniature Schnauzer, from his home to Holland Park on the bus! 🐾

Monty was great on the bus and we had a fast paced walk at the park. He met a nice American Bulldog called Ty, who was very friendly and they both enjoyed each others company.

We then picked up Humphrey, his Cockapoo’s best mate, and went through Marcus Garvey Park, then to the river banks. Humphrey had a fun time playing with a Golden Retriever called Whisper, and a French Bulldog called Bruno!! At times, he was cheeky and took Whisper’s ball, but he gave it back to us when we asked him, very lovely. ❤️🐻

The Hero Paradog! 🛩️🐕

– Content and Marketing Coordinator, Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix
After learning more about the amazing swimming ability of the Labrador, we, here at EmmanuelleChaix, started thinking about other dogs, with awesome abilities. It’s a pretty common thing to see dogs swim, but have you ever seen a dog fly?!🛩️
Ok, fly might be a bit of an exaggeration. What these pups were up to might have been more akin to falling. But, what they did, they did with mad style and insane valour. We are, of course, talking about those brave parachute dogs from WorldWarII.
It was the 13th Lancashire Parachute Battalion that first experimented with the idea of paradogs, in their attempts to prepare for D-Day. They set up an intensive training facility, aimed at dogs who had lost there owners.
This was not your standard doggy Day Care. At the base, these dogs were taught how to position themselves when falling, as well as being made accustomed to the sound of gun fire and plane engines.
One of the dogs to come out of this training was a crossbreed Alsatian/Collie, named Bing. Bing was being sent to the front line, to sniff out mines and other explosives.
Sadly Bing’s jump from the aeroplane🛩️ did not go smoothly, and the poor dog was left hanging in the trees behind enemy lines for two hours, before being rescued by the rest of his team.
Undeterred though, Bing began to sniff out bombs 💣💣, as well as locating enemy ambushes. He was awarded the Dicken Medal (the highest honour given to an animal) for his efforts. What an inspirational pup! 🐕
Just a reminder, we may not offer parachute lessons, here, at EmmanuelleChaix, but
we do offer a range of services, Make Contact

A. Lemos

You were recommended by a Dog Sitter called Tash. She is aware that both Penny and Sweet Pea are both fearful in general. When I spoke to you, you showed great understanding and sensitivity towards the issues both dogs face. As you have also rescued dogs you are knowledgeable about fears and dog psychology. Your approach seemed positive without exaggeration of what these dogs should be doing unlike others who believe one size fits all.

Costa Rica’s Dog Paradise: EmmanuelleChaix Investigates

  • Content and Marketing Coordinator Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix

Imagine walking through the incredible countryside of Costa Rica. Taking in the spectacular views as you walk up the foothills with the sound of exotic birds filling your ears. It’s a beautiful scene and one that sounds impossible to top.🌴

Now imagine that the bird noises are drowned out. Slowly at first, but the sound rises, as almost 1000 smiling canine faces charge towards you. Their tongues hanging out and tails wagging. Welcome to the world of Territoria de Zaguates.🐕

In 2005, it was estimated that Costa Rica had more than a million stray dogs on the streets. Without the infrastructure in place to care for the Abandoned animals, homeless dogs were put down. This is what spurred Lya Battle and Alvaro Samut to create their no-kill sanctuary.  Battle says: ‘I would often come across dogs on the way home. Those that looked in need for help I would take home for as long as it took to sterilise and find families for.’  However, often Lya struggled to find new families for her rescued pups with many being ignored due to perceived undesirable qualities like missing an eye, being too old or not being a pure breed.

Eventually, Lya found herself with 100 stray dogs in her small back garden and it soon became apparent that her house simply wasn’t big enough. Instead of giving up, she resoluted to her principal of ‘Never turning a dog away’, Lya moved the unofficial operation to her Grandfathers farm, an hour away from downtown San Jose.

Now the sanctuary is looking to become an official non-profit in Costa Rica. The operation has grown to massive proportions with 6 permanent staff, some doggy Day Care volunteer staff, and a hefty dog food bill!!! The dogs are cared for by vets, fed regularly, and are taken on nice long outings around the farmland. These dog walks are open to the public, which serve as a chance to meet the dogs and promote adoption. There is no pressure to adopt though and people of all ages are invited to spend time playing with the rescued pups. You’re even allowed to bring your own dogs along for the walk.

So if you find yourself in San Jose and you are looking to spend a day surrounded by cheerful dogs (who wouldn’t want to do this?!), then pop along to Terriotoria De Zaguates and join them for one of their outings, like group dog walks, and dog care workshops, through the beautiful Costa Rican countryside.

If you want to support the sanctuary and help Lya and Alvaro in their mission to never turn a dog away, then check out the website and donate what you can.

We took Humphrey, the Cockapoo, and Max, the Weimaraner, through Ravenscourt Park for their dog Walking.

Humphrey loved being outside with one of his best mates.

Max and Humphrey were dubious at first about sharing their toys but quickly decided that it was fun to play together!

Celebrity Dog News, EmmanuelleChaix Writes

David Beckham was supposedly close to being sent to the doghouse last week after insisting that the family brings their Cocker Spaniel Olive to a photo shoot. You may have seen that the famous family were on the cover of Vogue UK this week, looking cool and collected as always. However, apparently tensions rose during the shoot when Olive started getting raucous and decided to jump into the river. Pretty standard behaviour for a dog. The trouble arose when the now wet dog was keen to play with his family, all of whom were clothed in expensive designer clothes. Wet dogs and fashion perhaps isn’t the best pairing at times! Olive is no stranger to the lime light though. In 2015, Olive created her own Instagram account (clever girl), which has since amounted over 71,000 followers! What’s more, it seems that the Beckhams are adding to their canine family with Brooklyn sharing a picture of new puppy Fig yesterday as if the family weren’t photogenic enough.
