October for… National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and Adopt a Dog Month

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the American Humane Association (AHA) have deemed the month of October National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and Adopt a Dog Month, respectively.

According to the ASPCA, approximately 3.3 million dogs enter shelters every year. When these abandoned and often abused dogs find their way to a shelter, each one needs a forever home and their potential is limitless. Some of the benefits of adoption are often hidden. Human and canine both enjoy increased activity and social interaction through daily walks. Humans develop patience as they learn the ways of their new four-legged companion. Dogs explore the many scents of the human lifestyle.

The names are slightly different, but the goal is the same — National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and Adopt a Dog Month are both about getting as many great dogs as possible into the loving homes they deserve 🐕⚡

  • Content and Marketing Coordinator, Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix

We took Willow, our pretty Havanese female, to Humphrey‘s home, our Cockappo male.

Humphrey was good at Willow’s place and waited in the hall.

We let them both off lead at Ravenscourt Park for their dog Walking. They had a nice friendly play about and then they explored the park at their own leisure whilst having fun!!

Willow also had a nice hair cut as you can see! So you can actually see her properly now 😀🐾

During This World Vegan Month, What Is A Vegan? 🐾

  • Content and Marketing Coordinator, Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix

A way to explain the vegan concept is to define what vegan means, and then look at how and why the word came into existence.

A vegetarian diet is commonly understood to exclude meat and fish, but to include eggs and dairy. The word vegan takes cuts out every item of animal origin. Vegan refers to anything that is free of animal products: for example, no meat, milk, eggs, wool, leather, honey.

Veganism carries at least three potential advantages:

  1. avoidance of animal mistreatment and slaughter
  2. elimination of certain health risks
  3. reduction of environmental footprint

Can you become a vegan through diet alone? Absolutely, since, as we will see in the next section, vegan was originally defined purely in dietary terms.

No matter the degree to which you ultimately embrace the vegan concept, it makes sense to begin your transition by emphasizing dietary choices. After all, unless you buy a new fur coat every winter, the overwhelming majority of animal use associated with your life almost certainly arises from your food choices.

A hardy, energetic and intelligent dog, the English Springer Spaniel is outgoing and friendly!

We picked Freddie up from his house for his dog Walking, he was in a great mood.

We took him for a walk up the river then to Wandsworth Park.

Playing games with dog toys is one of his favourite thing,  some other dogs tried to engage with him, but Freddie wasn’t really interested !!🐻

🐶 Out on their dog Walking, EmmanuelleChaix present you.. Monty! Our Miniature Schnauzer, and Humphrey, our handsome Cockapoo !!

–  Content and Marketing Coordinator, Press Office at EmmanuelleChaix

We took Monty, our fun and highly social Miniature Schnauzer, from his home to Holland Park on the bus! 🐾

Monty was great on the bus and we had a fast paced walk at the park. He met a nice American Bulldog called Ty, who was very friendly and they both enjoyed each others company.

We then picked up Humphrey, his Cockapoo’s best mate, and went through Marcus Garvey Park, then to the river banks. Humphrey had a fun time playing with a Golden Retriever called Whisper, and a French Bulldog called Bruno!! At times, he was cheeky and took Whisper’s ball, but he gave it back to us when we asked him, very lovely. ❤️🐻

A. Lemos

You were recommended by a Dog Sitter called Tash. She is aware that both Penny and Sweet Pea are both fearful in general. When I spoke to you, you showed great understanding and sensitivity towards the issues both dogs face. As you have also rescued dogs you are knowledgeable about fears and dog psychology. Your approach seemed positive without exaggeration of what these dogs should be doing unlike others who believe one size fits all.

Our dogs love dog Day Care!

We picked up Chester, the Border Collie, Lola, the French Bulldog, was there also!

They both had a great time running around off lead, and playing with toys.

Chester gets excited when there are people around, and Lola is happy pretty much all the time! So they made friends, and had a great day out!
